ARTIST STATEMENT
UNCANNY NATURE

Throughout all the mediums and themes Eline explores there’s always one reoccurring main theme: The Uncanny Valley Of Spaces.
Eline believes that the theory of the Uncanny Valley can be applied not only towards realistic renderings of faces and robotica, but also to spaces, virtual, abstract and otherwise.
An eerie space where you cannot tell what is human and what is not, what is nature and what is not? It’s those spaces that’s she’s endlessly fascinated by and tries to reacreate within her body of work with the usage of maquettes.
The inherent eerieness of a space that seems familiar but is slightly off, that hidden context is what she’s searching after.

Everything is inherently haunted by nature, inherently uncanny, because nature is the base of all existence.

What is truly staged? What is truly real? What is truly nature?
